Not all sand is created equally. You know the beach, right? Well, according to the global market, that sand is utter trash (I've been saying this for years honestly). The life experience of beach sand, or 'tiny rocks' as its sometimes referred to as, renders it unusable for sand stuff, such as making concrete, building sandmen (like snowmen but sandy-er) and of course having sandball fights (yes, its another winter activity but with sand, get over it!), but mostly its the concrete. Between 2011 and 2013 alone, China consumed more cement (6.6 gigatons) than the United States used during the entire 20th century (4.4 billion tonnes from 1901 to 2000). That's a lot of sand, baby! Unfortunately for beach sand, which spends most of its time buried amongst other sand or being hurdled around by waves, all of that hurdling makes it very round and smooth and not good for sticking together in concrete so most of it is, as I said, utter pathetic garbage sand. The best sand for making buildings from comes from an awful(ly hot) place called Saudi Arabia, nicknamed 'The Kingdom' because of how great it is and definitely not a dystopian desert nation ruled by a psychotic tyrant. I hear they have waterparks over there (fun!) Anyway, thus concludes my essay on why beaches should be completely avoided at all cost and why sand is more complicated than a 7-layer chip dip.
